peer/pier

“Peer/Pier” is a site specific performance that takes vogue back to one of it’s spatial origins: The Pier. The Pier (more specifically St. Christopher Pier in New York City) was a place where members of the ballroom community came to meet, hang out, work and train. On the pier you didn’t need money or to be old enough to enter the clubs and venues. With this performance we are paying hommage to a birthplace of vogue and the ballroom community.

The performers clothes take inspiration from the water the pier stretches in to, in everything from the different shades of blue and ocean crystals to the plastic that polludes the water.
